 We are an aromatherapy store in located in the historic town of Fort Langley, British Columbia. In addition to the wide range of natural products we carry, we also have two treatment rooms where a customer may choose any one of a number of treatments in the quiet oasis we have created.
We are more than a store, we are an experience. Every customer who comes through the door is offered a complimentary cup of organic lavender tea. Within our spacious store, there are several seating areas to encourage patrons to stay awhile and enjoy the ambience.
The TAP product line is made on the premises. This allows us to ensure the quality and integrity of each item. As such, we are planning to expand the manufacturing area by incorporating the location directly behind the existing TAP store. This will allow us to have the ability to create our product in larger batches and more efficiently.
We have been encouraged by the many requests we have received to open more stores. Our goal was and is to be the main source of Therapeutic Grade essential oils and aromatherapy products. We are recognized as not only the place to buy quality products, but also one of strong ethical values. This presents an interesting situation. Excited as we are about having the TAP line of products available across the land, we will only do this when and if the right opportunity presents itself. Having this mindset, we have not planned for a certain number of stores to be opened within a certain period of time. We would rather focus on the individuals interested in joining our venture when the time is right. Our goal is to maintain the integrity of the company and products by associating with like-minded people.
 Our plan is to expand the business, but not saturate the market. We will give preference to locations that have the population to support the store while maintaining some of the “quaintness’” we have developed in our Fort Langley store. This would mean that we prefer “non” mall type locations. The square footage would have to be large enough to incorporate at least one treatment room. This sets us apart from other aromatherapy businesses and offers an opportunity to have customers experience the product in more ways than one.
One method of expansion would be to franchise the business. This would be preferable to us, as we know having an “owner/operator” at each location greatly improves the level of success that business will have. Both principles of TAP have been involved in the franchise business as franchisees. So, we can put ourselves in the position of the franchisee to ensure this is an equitable, mutually rewarding business relationship.
This can be achieved by ensuring that everyone’s opinion counts and that we operate the business from a co-operative point of view.
We envision a business in which decisions regarding products, product development, and the growth of the business are made together as a group. Together, we can purchase products in larger and more diverse volumes.
